Job Description:

Project Summary and Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance team requires a specialist who will be responsible for testing of automated content extraction. The QA team works closely with the development teams to identify and analyze the problems in the modules developed to extract content. We work with the Subject Mater Experts to identify the unstructured content to improve consumption of the information by Reuters systems. The successful candidate will use testing tools to identify problems in the heuristics required for a machine to understand unstructured text. He/she will work on testing of the quality of the content consumption; analyze the problems found; provide feedback to the development team.

The candidate will perform research tasks on various topics to provide development teams with the information required for project development.

This Quality Assurance specialist will work with multiple groups within the organization to learn and understand their specific needs.

ClearForest, a Thomson Reuters (TR) company specializing in semantic analysis, requires a technical specialist who will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing applications, using a variety of programming and scripting languages. The applications are designed to add structure (xml, etc.) to unstructured documents such as news articles, company press releasese, etc.

Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Test heuristics and extraction rules for identifying semantic entities and relations in unstructured text and provide feedback to development teams in order to assure the accuracy level specified in the requirements

• Take responsibility for end-to-end testing of the content automation projects: writing test plans, test on different levels (sanity, functional, regression), and document

• Work closely with subject mater experts to analyse requirements

• Master the testing/analytical/research techniques

Education:

• A University degree - a must

•A University degree in Linguistics/Languages or related - an advantage

Required Skills (Must have), Necessary industry experience and associated number of years of experience:

• Intellectual interest in languages/entities and relations identification in unstructured text

• English at mother-tongue level

• QA experience (at least 1 year)

• The Ability to work independently, energetically and creatively

• Excellent team work skills

Desired Skills (Nice to have in addition to the Required Skills), necessary industry experience and associated number of years of experience:

• Experience in Computational Linguistics/Natural Processing studies

• Knowledge of additional languages (Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Chinese)
