Job Description:

Join the Software Development Test team that is responsible for one of Cisco's highest revenue products, the Catalyst 4500 Switching Product family. As we continue to aggressively expand our business, we are adding new features and products to our existing portfolio.

L2/L3 Keywords: Spanning Tree, STP, Dot1x, 802.1x, multicast, vlan, trunking, dot1q, switching, LACP, TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, RIP, OSPF, VPN, DHCP.

Automation Keywords: Tcl/Expect, Tcl, expect, C, C++, perl, scripting, automation, scripts, IXIA, Smartbits, UNIX.

Role / Responsibilities:

* Focus on feature testing on Catalyst 4500 family of switches.
* Will apply knowledge of L2/L3 protocols to understand newer protocols/features.
* Write test plans which define the strategy and test cases for new product features and subsequently execute those tests, investigate test failures and log product defects.
* Review other test plans and provide required
feedback.
* Use software enginering skills to review other
engineers scripts for automation.
* Develop Tcl/Expect scripts for automated testing of THE Catalyst 4500 layer 2/3 switches.
* Investigate script failures in automated testbeds; modify scripts/libraries and log product defects as needed.
* Assist development engineers in product defect diagnosis.
* Develop and maintain Tcl/Expect libraries used to control switches, routers, and traffic generators.
* Assist other devtest engineers in script development efforts by performing code reviews and assisting in debugging efforts.

Mandatory Skillset:

* Knoweldge/Hands-on experience in layer 2 and layer 3 networking protocols.
* Hands on experience configuring switches and routers.
* Experience developing scripts using Tcl/Expect.
* Good communication skills.
* Familiarity with the UNIX environment.
* Ability to debug problems of moderate scope involving network protocols.
* Works under general supervision.
* Follows established procedures.
* Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.
* Should have good understanding of general
networking concepts and protocols.
* Analytical skills to debug and isolate problems
are required.
* Excellent communication skills and the
ability to interact effectively with test, development,hardware, ASIC and support groups.
* Experience developing Tcl/Expect scripts and
libraries in a UNIX environment is beneficial.

Desired Skillset:

* C/C++ programming a plus.
* Tcl/Perl programming.
* Hands on experience using and/or testing Cisco switches and routers.
* Cisco Certifications such as CCNP

Education Qualifications:

Typically requires BSEE/CS combined with 5-8 yrs related experience, or MSEE/CS combined with
3-6 years of related experience
